Who is Kate Kelly?
Kate Kelly is a passionate advocate and activist who heavily believes in equality for all. Kelly graduated from American University Washington College of Law cum laude in 2012 with a JD. She received the Class of 2012 Peter M. Cicchino Award for Outstanding Advocacy in Public Interest.
Some of Kate's interests include: yoga, hiking, being outdoors, ethical fashion, wax-print fabric, traveling, and mid-century modern. She loves trying new vegetarian and international cuisine, and enjoys learning different languages.
What has Kate Kelly accomplished?
In 2012, Kate helped design a conference in DC for LGBTQIA Mormons and allies. In 2013 she founded a grassroots organization that went worldwide to fight gender inequality with her organization, Ordain Women. Her work was noticed by 3 male Mormon leaders, who convicted her of apostasy and excommunicated her from the church in 2014. The reasoning for excommunication was that she spoke out against the institutional oppression of women.
Using her education from university, she has various experiences in the world of law. Kelly worked as an Ella Baker Fellow at the Center for Constitutional Right; a research assistant to the Chair of the United Nations Committee Against Torture in Geneva, Switzerland; a law clerk at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights; an attorney at the RFK Center for Justice & Human Rights; Legal Advisor for Legal Action Worldwide working in Somalia on sexual violence legislation, and litigating before the African Commission about on Human and Peoples' Rights; consultant for the United Nations High Commission on Refugees report Women on the Run; Legal Fellow for the Human Rights in the U.S. Project at Columbia Law School; Human Rights Attorney at Equality Now; and Strategic Advocacy & Policy Counsel at the Planed Parenthood Association of Utah. Every experience is valuable.
In 2013, Kate created the website ordainwomen.org using WordPress. To date, the site has received four million views/visits. It really shows how the movement has grown from a smaller group of courageous, outspoken women to thousands of worldwide supporters.

What makes Kate Kelly a Warrior Woman?
Kate Kelly's passion and drive for equality is a catalyst for her actions, which makes her a Warrior Woman. She received education from American University Washington College of Law and used it to go forward and aid others. Kate frequently attends rallies for equalities, gives speeches, and works cases regarding equal rights and her other passions. Kate does everything she can for the things she believes in. I've never heard of Kate Kelly before but this was very interesting! It's insane to me how even in the modern day misogyny still runs rampant and clear like this. It's refreshing and interesting to see a woman so recently overcoming her circumstances and earning so many awards and achievements for speaking out about oppression
